Meet the Candidate: Alexis Miller
My name is Alexis Miller and I am running to represent the people of Ohio’s 89th House District, which is home to Cedar Point, the Lake Erie islands, and the country’s best small towns and cities.
My family came to the district in the 1860’s, where they grew grapes on Middle Bass Island and eventually came to the mainland during Prohibition. We have made our lives here and I am proud to call Sandusky home with my husband Rob and our two dogs.
I graduated from Ohio State with a BA in political science and a Master of Public Administration. During college and grad school, I worked my way up through the Ohio House and Senate, serving as an intern, page, legislative aide, and senior legislative aide. I deeply understand the role of State Representative and the ability to navigate state government to solve problems for constituents.
I am running for State Representative because I love Ohio. Too often, though, policies are presented as a series of zero-sum options, creating a culture of division and extremes. I don’t buy this way of governing, and am focused on how we can do the most good for the most people. To make sure our state is a great place to live now, and into the future, we must focus on creating an economy that values regular, working people. This includes keeping right to work out of Ohio, working to increase access to affordable healthcare and prescriptions, protecting retirements, expanding access to broadband, and actually investing in public education.
